THOUGHTS ON NIPSEY HUSSLE

The beloved West Coast rapper/entrepreneur/activist Ermias Asghedom aka Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside his establishment, The Marathon Store , in Los Angeles on March 31st. He was 33 years old.

The incident has shocked, angered and saddened many including myself. Since then it has also sparked rumours, conspiracy theories and the usual back and forth between people of opposing opinions.

I thought I'd give my opinions surrounding the Crenshaw hero.

Firstly, there's no other way to kick this off other than saying peace, love, respect and gratitude to Nipsey Hussle for all of the good that he done for his people and community. He was one of our best and brightest for sure.

Musically, Nipsey released several mixtapes and his only album Victory Lap was released to critical acclaim last year. Some declared it as album of the year. The album peaked at No.4 in the Billboard Charts and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.

My favourite project (based on the knowledge I have) from Nipsey's discography would be The Marathon and my favourite song from Nipsey is Blue Laces. So if you want to check out his music, I'd go for The Marathon and Victory Lap.
* FUN FACT- The Marathon has the tracks Blue Laces and Keys To The City. Victory Lap has the sequel to both those songs. *

I was actually supposed to see Nipsey Hussle next month as he was scheduled to come to the UK to perform. I'm obviously vex I'll never get to see him but I'm even more vex for his loved ones.

The LAPD released a picture of the suspect behind the murder. From the info I've seen, the suspect was also believed to be a police informant. I'm not from Los Angeles but apparently that's one of the reasons Nipsey had an issue with him and didn't want to associate with him. I have no doubt the suspect will be dealt with one way or another but there's been a lot of speculation that this may have been bigger than a street beef.

This leads to the conspiracies and controversies that have come as a result of this sickening incident.
SOME people believe that Nipsey Hussle's plans to make a documentary about a man named Dr Sebi is the reason behind his murder. Whereas SOME people believe that this theory is ridiculous (you can just type his name into the twitter search bar for all the anti-Dr Sebi tweets). None of us will ever know for sure if this was the reason as none of us were there at the time of the murder and we sure as hell didn't plan this murder. What is known however is that Nipsey HIMSELF speculated that he may be a target for wanting to make this documentary. So based on that fact, why are there some people so quick to dismiss this theory?

Moving on to Dr Sebi

It's SPECULATED that he could cure HIV/AIDs.
It's SPECULATED he's a fraud.
It's SPECULATED that his death may have actually been murder.
It's SPECULATED he cured Lisa Left Eye Lopes amongst others of serious illnesses.

It is a FACT however that he beat the 'fake healing' cases against him in 1988.
It's also a FACT that Lisa Left Eye Lopes endorsed Dr Sebi and his methods and she 'coincidentally' died in Honduras where the doctor lived.

No photo description available.

So what happened? Who knows, we weren't there. People are entitled to their opinions. What people are not entitled to do however is to pass of their opinion as a fact.

I don't think we should ignore the fact that several holistic doctors such as Dr Sebi have been killed. The same goes for activists like Nipsey Hussle as several have been killed (notably the ones in Ferguson, Missouri)

You people that use this atrocity as an excuse to say nonsense like 'WhaT ABouT BlaCK On BLacK cRImE?' and 'NevER KneW YOu LoT WeRE NIpseY FanS, BarE FAke LoVe' are annoying. Please shut up kmt.
Also, all you clowns (that are from a very specific group) talking grease about Nipsey are cowardly losers and will never be respected.
Stay away from haters.

'How long shall they kill our prophets, while we stand aside and look?' Bob Marley, Redemption Song

I'm sick of seeing people brave enough to speak out, people brave enough to stand up for what's right be murdered. The Nipsey Hussle's, the Fred Hampton's and Bob Marley's of this world need to be protected. Otherwise, this cycle will continue. We need less people like the one's in the above paragraph and more soldiers.

Nipsey had great plans and was active in helping his community. The more I research, the sadder I feel. Let's hope his work can continue via the people he inspired.

It's never too late to learn about Nipsey be it his music, his interviews or his knowledge and wisdom so take advantage.

To finish off, I once again wanna say peace, love, respect and gratitude to Nipsey and his loved ones. A real hero.
